Last week, I had the great pleasure of attending the Europalia Festival in Brussels. A particular highlight was the performance by Mohamed Toukabri, which left a profound impression on me.
A Fusion of Past, Present, and Future
Toukabri, known for his powerful and emotional performances, presented a unique act that fused traditional photography with graffiti and immersive theater.
This performance was a moving journey through the dimensions of time, depicted through the use of light in different colors: blue light represented the past, red light the present, and bright green/white light the future. This symbolic representation created a deep connection between different eras and influences and can be seen as a modern oracle.
A Creative Collaborative Project
During the event, I had the opportunity to create a light painting with Mohamed Toukabri. This creative collaboration was not only a fascinating artistic experience but also a deeply inspiring encounter. The joint artwork, born from my movements to music from Palestine and the play with light, reflected the various layers of our identities and history.
This interpretation represents another interesting method of divination, comparable to astrology, coffee reading, aura reading, pendulum, or other oracle techniques. For me, this is another very interesting way to unfold the art of perception.
Toukabri's performance and our joint work impressively demonstrated how art can serve as a bridge between cultures and times. It opened up new perspectives and promoted intercultural dialogue. The Europalia Festival provided a great platform to experience and celebrate these creative and cultural connections.
The Significance of Art as a Bridge
For all art lovers and those looking to be inspired by new ideas, I can highly recommend visiting this festival. The diversity and depth of the artworks and performances displayed are truly remarkable and enriching.
